A note on Russian dates: Russia used the Julian Calendar (Old Style or O.S.) until after the Russian Revolution. The Gregorian Calendar (New Style or N.S.) was not adopted in Russia until 1918. By 1918, the calendar used in Russia was 13 days behind the calendar used in the rest of the world. The day after January 31, 1918 (O.S.) became February 14, 1918 (N.S.). The dates here are in the New Style.
